I have heard that PPTP is not safe, is this right?

PPTP (Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol) is a technology for creating VPN’s developed jointly by Microsoft Corporation, U.S. Robotics, and several remote access vendor companies, known collectively as the PPTP Forum. With PPTP, users can dial in their VPN’s. PPTP is essentially encrypted PPP. PPP allows you to tunnel across a point to point link. Good points: Windows, OS X, iPhone will work out of the box, Easy to configure. Bad points: Early Microsoft’s implementation has been criticized for being poorly designed and not particularly secure. Moreover, its easy to block.
While PPTP VPN on PC offers you immediate encryption and protection from the casual observer, always be aware that security experts and trained cryptographers can crack it with comparatively little effort.
